The video of Kyle Lafferty limping out of training looked worrying for Northern Ireland's Euro 2016 hopes

These are images that Northern Ireland fans hardly wanted to see.

Star striker Kyle Lafferty limped out of training on Tuesday with a groin injury and was clearly in some discomfort as he headed back to the dressing rooms.

The 28-year-old, who scored seven times to fire Northern Ireland to Euro 2016, did not reappear for the remainder of the session, which was conducted in front of the public at Saint-Georges-de-Reneins.

The good news is that coach Michael O'Neill played down any worry in his press conference afterwards, saying: "It's fine, it's precautionary, we have no major concerns there. It's a little twist, but on examination we don't expect any major issues at all.

"We're just being careful, we're more concerned about the thunder and lightning, to be honest!"

That was reassuring news after the pictures - it didn't look great - and Northern Ireland do have five days before their opener against Poland in Nice.
