Kurt Busch masterfully managed his fuel use over the last dozen laps to claim his first victory of the season at the Axalta "We Paint Winners" 400 at Pocono Raceway on Monday.
Racing under mostly blue skies after Sunday's rainy, foggy day in Long Pond, Busch held off Dale Earnhardt Jr and Brad Keselowski for his third career triumph on the Tricky Triangle.
"It's tough to balance everything. We have a fast car, an interim crew chief. We weren't sure how the fuel thing was going to play out," Busch told FS1 afterward. "It's just so much fun to drive and be competitive."
Busch's win on the 2.5-mile tri-oval is Stewart-Haas Racing's second NASCAR Sprint Cup victory of the season.
Chase Elliott - eighth in Sprint Cup standings entering the race - continued his impressive rookie season, finishing fourth, his fifth consecutive top-10 finish.
