Ospreys wing Dirksen undergoes ACL surgery

Ospreys wing Hanno Dirksen will miss the start of the 2016-17 Pro12 campaign after undergoing surgery on a serious knee injury.

The South African suffered the setback in last month's 40-27 Judgement Day triumph over Cardiff Blues and had anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction last week.

Medical performance manager Chris Towers confirmed the 25-year-old's rehabilitation will continue into next season, with no return date yet announced.

Dirksen had scored twice in the match at the Principality Stadium as Ospreys fought back from 10 points down to beat the Blues.
