Tottenham's chances of winning the Premier League title disappeared on Monday - and six days later Harry Kane's golden boot hopes suffered a setback.
Going into Spurs' game with Southampton on Sunday, Kane led the Premier League goalscoring charts by one goal from Leicester hotshot Jamie Vardy, with Manchester City's Sergio Aguero one strike further back.
Kane missed a number of chances - when team-mates were in better positions - as Spurs suffered a 2-1 defeat, their first reverse since March 2.
Vardy started the weekend three goals behind but bagged a brace in the champions' 3-1 win against Everton on Saturday. He would have been level had he not missed a penalty.
Twitter seemed to be more interested in the golden boot battle than the events of the game.
Kane to seal his golden boot today with a goal or two and probably won't let Vardy forget his penalty miss in France.

Tottenham took the lead through Son Heung-min - to the disappointment of some.
Son great goal but if you assist to kane is better to scores his 26th goal

Kane was maybe trying too hard to score.
Lol Harry Kane would never pass, Lamela could have been in front of an open goal and Kane still won't pass

Kane has a little bit of Kobe in him. There are times a pass might be a better play.

And a missed opportunity at the end of the first half didn't help.
Harry Kane is a greedy player. I know he wants the golden boot but Spurs could be 3-1 up if he had passed. Shocking

Harry Kane is so greedy I bet when he takes his mrs to the cinema he refuses to give her any of his pick 'n' mix.

Southampton took the lead in the 72nd minute.
That goal was coming. Kane's pursuit of the golden boot causing Spurs to lose points. He has 20 minutes to make it up.

And Tottenham failed to equalise, leaving them just three points ahead of rivals Arsenal, who play at Man City later on Sunday.
Playing with 10 men all game must have been difficult. Harry Kane has been missing since Monday. If found please return to @SpursOfficial

All the talk by everyone about Kane and the golden boot has gone to his head. Unbelievably greedy today and cost us badly.

As for the golden boot, the race goes down to the wire.
Golden boot will be between Harry Kane (25 goals, 1 assist), Jamie Vardy (24 goals, 6 assists) & Sergio Aguero (23 goals, 2 assists)
