Harry Kane criticised for being greedy as Tottenham lose against Southampton

Tottenham's chances of winning the Premier League title disappeared on Monday - and six days later Harry Kane's golden boot hopes suffered a setback.

Going into Spurs' game with Southampton on Sunday, Kane led the Premier League goalscoring charts by one goal from Leicester hotshot Jamie Vardy, with Manchester City's Sergio Aguero one strike further back.

Kane missed a number of chances - when team-mates were in better positions - as Spurs suffered a 2-1 defeat, their first reverse since March 2.

Vardy started the weekend three goals behind but bagged a brace in the champions' 3-1 win against Everton on Saturday. He would have been level had he not missed a penalty.

Twitter seemed to be more interested in the golden boot battle than the events of the game.

Tottenham took the lead through Son Heung-min - to the disappointment of some.

Kane was maybe trying too hard to score.

And a missed opportunity at the end of the first half didn't help.

Southampton took the lead in the 72nd minute.

And Tottenham failed to equalise, leaving them just three points ahead of rivals Arsenal, who play at Man City later on Sunday.
