Daniel Sturridge is always going to be one of those players who polarisies opinion.
The Liverpool striker was involved in all three goals as the Reds booked their place in the Europa League final with a 3-0 win over 10-man Villarreal at Anfield.
His performance sent Villarreal sprawling but his critics were still out in force.
Granted his first involvement was to miss a tap-in that then went in off a defender but then after putting Liverpool ahead - squeezing a one-on-one off the goalkeeper - he bundled the ball into the path of Adam Lallana to score from close range.
Sturridge's goal came just as the haters were starting to find their voice.
Their whining was soon drowned out on Twitter as Sturridge put Liverpool ahead in the tie for the first time and reacted like someone who knows they're not universally loved and glad to prove a few people wrong.
Sturridge's performance was match-defining despite what his critics thought - you've still got to be in the right position to make things happen.
Sturridge is now set to get the opportunity to bring a major trophy to Liverpool in the final against Sevilla - the two-time defending champions - in Basle on May 18.
A win would also secure a Champions League place...redemption awaits?
