Nine minutes into the clash which could secure Manchester City a place in the Champions League final, captain Vincent Kompany went down injured.
And not just down, he stayed down and eventually hobbled off to be replaced by Eliaquim Mangala.
With the greatest of respect to Mangala, City fans were not happy with the forced change.
But that didn't stop the jokes coming in from elsewhere...

And no-one wanted this move to be "perfected".
Kompany's really perfected that dignified, head-held-high, rueful-shake-of-the-head limp off the pitch now.

As if being without Kompany wasn't hard enough, Gareth Bale put the home side ahead after 20 minutes.
