Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is expecting Amir Khan to adopt a similar approach to Floyd Mayweather Jr when the two do battle in Las Vegas next month.
Boxing great Mayweather, who won all 49 of his professional fights before retiring last year, inflicted the only defeat of Alvarez's career with a majority decision victory in September 2013.
Khan is going up two divisions to fight the WBC middleweight champion at a catchweight of 155Ibs, and the Briton is sure to try and use his speed to keep out of his opponent's reach.
That tactic was utilised by Mayweather while a similar approach helped Erislandy Lara trouble the Mexican in July 2014.
But Alvarez, considered the clear favourite, is confident he can quell Khan's approach.
"Every fighter is different, every fighter brings different skills and you have to adjust for that," he said at a media workout.
"For Amir, we have focused on increasing my hand speed, counter punching and preparing for lots of movement and footwork.
"We believe Amir will adopt a similar style to Floyd Mayweather Jr and Erislandy Lara; however, we have made sure that I am prepared for that style of boxing and anything he brings to the table to not be surprised on fight night.
"I can't predict a definite outcome, but I can say that I am going to bring the best of me in the ring."
The duo are set to face off for the WBC middleweight belt at the T-Mobile Arena on May 7.
