Schwartzman to face Tomic in Istanbul, Ramos-Vinolas goes through

Diego Schwartzman will face top seed Bernard Tomic in the second round of the Istanbul Open after beating fellow Argentine Facundo Bagnis in straight sets on Monday.

Buenos Aires native Schwartzman set up an encounter with the world number 22 by seeing off his compatriot 6-1 6-4 on the first day of the second edition of the clay-court tournament.

Schwartzman did not face a solitary break point against Bagnis, who saved 10 break points but failed to hold three times and paid the price.

Second seed Ivo Karlovic will be up against Adrian Ungur in the second round after the qualifier beat Filip Krajinovic 6-3 6-3.

Krajinovic won only 48 per cent of points on his first serve and was broken six times in his first match against Romanian Ungur.

Albert Ramos-Vinolas was the only seed in action in the first round on Monday and the Spaniard moved into the last 16 with a 7-5 6-1 victory over Adrian Mannarino.

Dusan Lajovic, Dudi Sela and Roberto Carballes Baena also sealed their passage into the second round.
