Hereford FC have been handed a major boost ahead of their first-ever trip to Wembley following news they will have the support of Ronaldo...the club's bull mascot.
Okay, okay it's not *that* Ronaldo. It's not the guy who scores all the goals for Real Madrid, or the guy that used to scored all the goals for Brazil. It's a bull.
It is, however, a prize Herefordshire bull - for the record his full name is Hawkesbury 1 Ronaldo - and for Hereford FC fans his presence at the FA Vase final on May 22 against Morpeth could be just as significant.
In fact his appearance is so important that Football Association chief executive Martin Glenn took it upon himself to grant the request to allow Ronaldo to be paraded before the match.
"We realise how important Ronaldo is to the fans and I am delighted that the FA chief executive, Martin Glenn, has been prepared to take time from his busy schedule to personally intervene to make this happen." Herefordshire Football Association chief executive Jim Lambert said.
We're not really sure why it's so important for Ronaldo the bull to be there but Hereford FC - who were only founded two years ago - are pretty pumped about it.
"It is incredibly exciting to hear the news that the club's mascot - Hawkesbury 1 Ronaldo - will be joining us pre-match at Wembley," Hereford FC chairman Jon Hale said.
"When he was paraded before our first competitive game back in August he was a huge hit with everyone at the stadium, and I'm sure it will be no different for those people who see him at Wembley.
"I'd like to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make this happen - it will only serve to make this special day even more memorable."
If Ronaldo's appearance is set to provide a bit of fun to the occasion spare a thought for the one one person who will now head for Wembley knowing it won't be all be glitz and glamour...
