In normal circumstances, Newcastle might view a 1-1 draw against Manchester City as a decent result.
But when you're battling desperately to avoid relegation and City's one goal comes from a player who's clearly offside, it suddenly doesn't seem so great.
Sergio Aguero scored the game's opener after 14 minutes, rising to nod in a fine cross from Aleksandar Kolarov, but he was very obviously offside when he did so - and Newcastle fans were furious.
#NUFC had half a foot in this, but now has to climb a mountain. Thanks linesman.

Newcastle work all week at being organised, and the linesman does that. ?
-- Joe Richards (@JoeRichards92) April 19, 2016
What is the linesman doing? If he's not looking for players in an offside position then WHAT IS HE DOING ? Aguero was clearly off
-- Matt Corner (@mattjcorner) April 19, 2016
Shocking from linesman wow!! There is no excuse for him to miss that! That is the only think he has to look for in that Situation!

Newcastle soon levelled - a lovely, Harry Kane-esque finish curling into the far corner from Vurnon Anita.
But that didn't stop their fans being furious with assistant referee Dave Bryan.
Just to put it out there that should be 1-0 to us given Aguero was offside. Cheers linesman

They hadn't calmed down by half-time.
Linesman Dave Bryan getting booed heavily as he comes out to check the nets. #nufc

And they were pretty cross at the end, too.
Great fight and great performance from the lads!! Should have been 3 points if not for a very poor decision!#nufc

Absolutely class from Newcastle!! Should have been 3 points if not for the linesman and a quality Joe Hart! Buzzing ???
-- Calum Denham (@Calum_D) April 19, 2016
Aguero's goal gets more and more ridiculous every time I see it! Linesman proper stitched us up there like..
-- NUFC HQ (@NUFC_HQ) April 19, 2016
How is that linesman employed?

Overall Newcastle fans were delighted with their team's performance and the way they've regrouped under Rafa Benitez.
That was some game. Haven't seen Newcastle's players run and work for each other like that for a long, long time. Deserved more. #nufc

I seriously dont think I can ask for a more passionate performance from Newcastle then that. We play like that every week, we stay up. #NUFC

But, with four games to play and a potential four points to make up should Sunderland win their game in hand, there was just a fear that it might be too little too late.
On the bright side Rafa is making a difference, showed a lot of fight tonight. Just probably too late #nufc

If Newcastle get relegated it will only be bcz they took so long to sack Mclaren ..
-- ASÄD (@JURGEN_ARMY) April 19, 2016
Great to see #NUFC play well. The only problem is they're doing it about 4 months too late ?
-- Phil Lindsay (@pl) April 19, 2016
Well, it ain't over til it's over.
