Newcastle Knights picked up their first victory of the NRL campaign with a hard-fought 18-16 win over Wests Tigers.
The Knights had lost four of their opening five games - drawing the other - but finally got their maiden triumph as Akuila Uate, Korbin Sims and Nathan Ross ran in tries.
Trent Hokinson added three conversions to complete the win - the Knights grateful for Jordan Rankin's missed conversion after James Tedesco's early try for the Tigers, who have now lost four in a row.
Cronulla Sharks remain two points behind leaders Brisbane Broncos thanks to a 25-20 home win over the Gold Coast Titans.
The Sharks set up their fourth win of the season with 14 points in the opening 18 minutes as Ben Barba, Sosaia Feki and Matt Prior went over.
The Titans responded with 18 unanswered points, but the injury-hit Sharks took control from 20-20 through a Chad Townsend field goal and Valentine Holmes' try.
Injuries to James Maloney, Luke Lewis and Andrew Fifita meant the Sharks finished the game with just one on the bench, but they managed to hold on.
However, their day nearly ended in tragedy as Chris Heighington's young son was caught under a maintenance vehicle after the final whistle.
Luckily for the three-year-old, Cronulla players raced to his aid and he was able to leave with his parents after being treated by club doctors.
