Togo turn to experience of Le Roy

Togo have turned to experienced coach Claude Le Roy in an attempt to revive their chances of reaching the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

With two matches remaining in qualifying for the tournament in Gabon, Togo find themselves third in Group A, level with Tunisia and behind leaders Liberia by two points.

Le Roy - who has managed at a record eight AFCON during his career - will lead the side for the first time against Liberia in June, before the final group clash against bottom-of-the-table Dijbouti in September.

The 68-year-old Frenchman, who guided Cameroon to the title in 1988, has signed a three-year contract.

"We need a miracle to qualify for the 2017 Cup of Nations, perhaps as the best second-placed team," the former Congo, DR Congo, Ghana, Cameroon and Senegal coach told AFP.
