Tuivasa-Sheck stuns beleaguered Roosters, Warriors snatch victory

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck piled more agony on his former club Sydney Roosters by scoring a golden-point try to give New Zealand Warriors a dramatic 32-28 NRL victory at Central Coast Stadium.

Tuivasa-Sheck ended a successful three-year spell with the Roosters to return to his homeland at the end of last season and the New Zealand full-back came back to haunt Trent Robinson's beleaguered side on Sunday.

Shaun Kenny-Dowall claimed a first-half double for a Roosters team still looking for their first win of the season, but Shaun Johnson also went over twice before the break after Manu Vatuvei and Solomone Kata had touched down to give the Warriors a 20-14 half-time advantage.

The Roosters looked to be on course for that elusive first victory when Sio Siua Taukeiaho and Mitchell Aubusson crossed in the space of two minutes, but Kata scored his second try and Johnson took a tense encounter into extra time with a late penalty to increase his tally to 16 points.

Tuivasa-Sheck then shattered Roosters hearts by racing 50 metres to score his first Warriors try in the 82nd minute after Tuimoala Lolohea had clutched a Jackson Hastings bomb and was allowed to run half the length of the field before feeding the clinical full-back.

Things go from bad to worse for the Roosters, who have lost their first five matches of the season for the first time since 1997. Victory for the Warriors was only their second of the campaign.

There was also a thriller at Pirtek Stadium, where Penrith Panthers snatched a 20-18 victory over Parramatta Eels courtesy of a last-gasp try from Bryce Cartwright after the siren.

Parramatta looked to have the victory sewn up when they led 18-12 with just four minutes remaining, but Josh Mansour went over in the corner to cut the gap to two points.

Jamie Soward then made amends for missing the conversion by launching a cross-field kick which Waqa Blake took and offloaded to Cartwright, who forced his way down to stun the Eels and give his side their second win of the season.
