Nico Rosberg collected a second successive win of the 2016 Formula One season at the Bahrain Grand Prix as pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton suffered at the first corner.
After racing ahead off the line Rosberg was further boosted when Hamilton was hit by Valtteri Bottas, the defending champion dropping to seventh as a result.
That gave Rosberg the advantage he needed and he never relinquished it, the German winning by 10 seconds from Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, while Hamilton had to settle for third.
Further down the grid there was another impressive display from Romain Grosjean as he drove his Haas into fifth place, while debutant Stoffel Vandoorne scored a solitary point on his first outing for McLaren.
This is how the drivers reacted to Sunday's second race of the year.
"For sure, it's been an awesome weekend. The key was the start. I had a great getaway and from there I was just trying to control the race." - Winner Rosberg reflects on the importance of his start.
"Perhaps today was more painful [than in Melbourne]. I still managed to get back up there and get some points but again, it was damage limitation. I had so much damage to the car, I couldn't fight with Kimi [for second]." - Hamilton rues another disappointing race day.
"When I was coming into turn one, at the point I brake I was turning into the corner. Everyone seemed to go very tight inside and it was too late. I was trying to brake as hard as I could. I got a penalty and I'm sure he lost some places because of that. It's a shame." - Bottas explains the crash with Hamilton to Sky F1.
"I had a bad start - we did what we could and tried to recover and had a pretty good result." - Ever the wordsmith, Raikkonen finds the positives in his podium.
"For my F1 debut I can be very happy with that. Since the beginning of the weekend I've felt comfortable. I just tried not to make mistakes. To come away with one point is a bonus. I came in without any expectations so to come away with one point is fantastic." - An elated Vandoorne expresses his delight at a 10th-place finish.
