Lendl Simmons has been confirmed as Andre Fletcher's replacement ahead of West Indies' World Twenty20 semi-final against hosts India.
Fletcher - who was only dismissed once in three innings at the World T20 - pulled a hamstring in his right leg during the Windies' surprise defeat to Afghanistan in Nagpur on Sunday, and the severity of his injury has seen the 28-year-old ruled out of the knockout stages.
Simmons' call-up was confirmed by an ICC Event Technical Committee, and he will go straight into contention to play in Thursday's semi-final in Mumbai.
Since making his T20 debut in 2007, Simmons has made 34 appearances for West Indies in the shortest form of the game, scoring 761 runs at an average of 25.36.
His last appearance came in January when his 49 at the top of the order was not enough to deny South Africa a 69-run win in Durban.
