Chris Chester has been appointed as the new head coach of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
He replaces Brian Smith, who resigned last week after claiming just one win in five to start the season.
Wakefield were thrashed 44-4 by St Helens in their first game without Smith but will now look to turn their fortunes around under ex-Hull KR coach Chester.
Chester was sacked by Hull KR last month, just three weeks into the season, following a 14-12 home loss to Wakefield.
He will work alongside John Kear from the 2017 season, with the 61-year-old Batley Bulldogs coach set to make his return to Wakefield as Head of Rugby.
