Ducks win seven straight, Capitals edge Wild

The Anaheim Ducks moved to seven-straight NHL wins after a 2-1 overtime victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Rickard Rakell was the hero for the home side, with the 22-year-old centre scoring the winning goal 84 seconds into overtime.

The game saw no goals in the first or second period, before Ryan Getzlaf got the Ducks on the scoreboard 45 seconds into the third.

The lead lasted all of a minute, with Jordan Eberle hitting back for the Oilers to send the game into OT, but some Rakell magic sealed the game for the Ducks.

The Washington Capitals picked up their fifth win out of their last six games after edging the Minnesota Wild 3-2 on Friday.

Mikko Koivu put the Wild ahead before Brooks Orpik struck for the Capitals, but Nino Niederreiter put the Oilers back in front five minutes later.

However, goals to Alexander Ovechkin and Dmitry Orlov in the third period sealed the comeback for the Capitals.

In other results, The Tampa Bay Lightning eased past the New Jersey Devils 4-0.

Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist for the Lightning, while Alex Killorn, Ondrej Palat and Matt Carle were also on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Matt Beleskey scored a double for the second times in three games as the Boston Bruins defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1, and the Buffalo Sabres came from behind to down the San Jose Sharks 3-1.
