Launchbury ruled out of Ireland clash

England lock Joe Launchbury has been ruled out of Saturday's Six Nations encounter with Ireland at Twickenham due to a hamstring injury.

Launchbury started Eddie Jones' first game as England head coach against Scotland, but dropped to the bench for the hammering of Italy in Rome.

The second row will play no part against the defending champions this weekend, though, and Courtney Lawes has been recalled to replace him in the squad.

Maro Itoje could be given his first start in the absence of Launchbury after an impressive debut off the bench against Italy.

England are top of the Six Nations table, level on points with France ahead of the clash with injury-hit Ireland.
