Colts QB Luck set for $100million deal

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has revealed that quarterback Andrew Luck will be offered a "shocking" new contract that could earn him at least $100million.

The first overall pick in the 2012 Draft, Luck is still widely regarded as the best young QB in the NFL despite a disappointing 2015 season where he played in just seven games as he dealt with a lacerated kidney and an abdominal tear.

Now in the final year of his rookie deal, Luck is in line to cash in and likely top monster contracts signed by Cam Newton ($20.76 million AAV, $41 million guaranteed) and Russell Wilson ($21.9 million AAV, $31.7 million guaranteed) last year.

"It's going to be a big number. It's going to be a shocking number, nine figures and probably a 20 [million] starting point per year, but again we will find the right number to get to," Irsay told WISH-TV.

"The question again remains how can you build that roster around him."

Unlike Newton and Wilson, Luck has yet to lead his team to the Super Bowl, but Irsay wants to make sure he has his franchise guy under center as well as a few dollars to put playmakers around him.

Irsay added: "To me, it's not a matter of what the number is going to be, but again, making sure that we have room to surround him with a championship football team and that it's as cap friendly as it can be, as we go through the end of this decade from 2016 to 2020."
