Gaetan Germain showed his star quality to kick Brive to a 28-6 victory over La Rochelle in Top 14 on Sunday.
The full-back showed why he is the top points scorer in France's top division at Stade Amedee-Domenech by contributing 23 points in a fantastic display.
Brive were well worth the victory in front of their home supporters and Nicolas Godignon's men - who alongside La Rochelle were knocked out of the European Rugby Challenge Cup last weekend - confirmed the win with Karlen Asieshvili 's late try.
Germain put the first points on the board in the seventh minute, before quickly following up with another penalty following indiscipline at the breakdown from La Rochelle.
More good work in the pack led to a third penalty for a collapsed maul on the quarter-of-an-hour-mark that Germain duly dispatched.
La Rochelle struggled to cope with Brive's wave of attacks and were penalised for offside that presented Germain with an opportunity to nail a fourth kick, before Zack Holmes kicked the visitors onto the scoreboard.
Germain stretched the lead back to 12 points before half-time, though, before Brive's Arnaud Mignardi and La Rochelle's Jone Qovu were sent to the sin-bin on the stroke of half-time following a coming together between the two teams.
Another collapsed maul allowed Germain to extend Brive's advantage and, after Julien Audy split the posts for the visitors, he failed for the first time in the match with a long-distance effort.
But he quickly made amends for that miss to add another three points with 15 minutes remaining, and Asieshvili squirmed over in the last play of the game to complete a fine night for Brive.
