Thunder claim thriller over Timberwolves, Warriors crush Mavericks


The Oklahoma City Thunder claimed a thrilling 126-123 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA on Wednesday, as Kevin Durant starred with 27 points.

The Thunder star made two important shots in the final two minutes to help claim a second-straight win in a tight encounter at Target Center.

Russell Westbrook was once more a strong contributor with 24 points and 15 assists.

Meanwhile, Zach LaVine scored 35 points and shot 14-for-17, with Andrew Wiggins adding 20 and Karl-Anthony Towns shooting 19 for the Timberwolves.

The Golden State Warriors never looked in trouble against the Dallas Mavericks as they cantered to a 127-107 win.

Klay Thompson scored a season-high 45 points, while reigning MVP Steph Curry kicked into life in the second half to claim 14 points in one of his quieter appearances this season.

Chandler Parsons top scored for the Mavs with 23 points of his own as Dirk Nowitzki was handed a rest following the road win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The San Antonio Spurs also impressed, crushing the Houston Rockets 130-99.

Following their disappointing loss to the Warriors, the Spurs looked like a team with a point to prove as LaMarcus Aldridge hit 25 points and 10 rebounds to remain undefeated at home.

James Harden was Houston's go-to man inside the arc and managed to capitalise with 20 points despite the pounding defeat.

LeBron James led the Cleveland Cavaliers past the Phoenix Suns, scoring 21 points in the 115-93 victory.

Elsewhere, the Boston Celtics accounted for the Denver Nuggets 111-103, the Detroit Pistons beat the Philadelphia 76ers 110-97, the Los Angeles Clippers sneaked past the Atlanta Hawks 85-83 and the Utah Jazz breezed past the Charlotte Hornets to seal a comfortable102-73 triumph.
