Spurs march on, Timberwolves snap losing streak

After their worst first quarter of the season the San Antonio Spurs rallied to secure an eleventh successive NBA win, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 112-83 on Sunday.

The Spurs managed to score just 14 points in the first quarter, but totals of 32, 32 and 34 helped them keep their winning streak going.

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 23 points for the Spurs while Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki was held to four points on 2-for-10 shooting - his worst output since scoring one point in nine minutes back in February 2012.

The Spurs are now a franchise-best 24-0 at home this season, and have won 33 straight at the AT&T Center dating back to March 2015.

The Minnesota Timberwolves ended a nine-game losing streak thanks to a 117-87 win over the Phoenix Suns.

Timberwolves duo Ricky Rubio and Andrew Wiggins scored 18 points each, while Brandon Knight had a game-high 20 for the Suns.

The 30-point win was the largest winning margin for the Timberwolves since a 36-point victory over the Los Angeles Lakers almost two years ago.

Russell Westbrook had a second consecutive triple-double to help the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Miami Heat 99-74.

Kevin Durant had 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Thunder became just the third team to reach 30 wins this year, behind the Golden State Warriors and the Spurs.

Dwayne Wade led the Heat with 22 points on his 34th birthday.

A high-scoring battle saw the Denver Nuggets edge the Indiana Pacers 129-126, while the Houston Rockets accounted for the Los Angeles Lakers 112-95.
