Quinton de Kock has been ruled out of South Africa's third Test against England after sustaining a "freak" knee injury on Wednesday.
The wicketkeeper is reported to have stumbled at the Proteas' team hotel, ruling him out of the crucial clash in Johannesburg.
Dane Vilas, who made his Test debut in July 2015, has been called in to replace De Kock, with no word yet on how long the 23-year-old will be sidelined.
England currently hold the advantage in the four-match series, having won the opener before the second Test ended in a draw.
The series concludes in Centurion in a match that gets under way on January 22.
