Blackhawks extend winning streak, Bruins win 3,000th game

The Chicago Blackhawks are on a six-game NHL winning streak after a 3-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Friday.

Rookie centre Phillip Danault scored his first goal for the Blackhawks at 15 minutes, one second of the third period to put the Blackhawks 2-1 ahead.

Niklas Hjalmarsson had put the Hawks ahead, before Ryan O'Reilly tied it with his 17th goal of the season.

However, Danault put the Hawks back in front four minutes later before Jonathan Toews scored into an empty net with 25 seconds left, condemning the Sabres to a sixth consecutive loss.

The Boston Bruins became just the second side in NHL history to reach 3,000 regular-season wins thanks to their 4-1 triumph over the New Jersey Devils.

Centre Ryan Spooner and defenseman Colin Miller each had a goal and an assist as the Bruins secured a comfortable win.

Only the Montreal Canadiens (3,283) have more NHL wins than the Bruins.

In other results, centre Ryan Johansen scored 2:35 into his Nashville Predators debut but the side went down 5-3 to the Colorado Avalanche.

Elias Lindholm scored twice to end a 12-game scoring slump as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1.

The Edmonton Oilers surrendered a 2-0 lead going into the third period to go down 3-2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, while Ryan Getzlaf scored the shoot-out winner for the Anaheim Ducks in a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Blues.
