South Africa will have to dig deep on day five of the first Test against England in Durban if they are to avoid defeat, says spinner Dane Piedt.
The 25-year-old produced his best Test figures on Tuesday at Kingsmead as England were bowled out for 326, Piedt taking 5-153 in the innings as South Africa were set 416 to win.
Four wickets fell before the close as Steven Finn (3-27) struck for the tourists, leaving the Proteas needing to score 280 runs.
"We will play the game [on the final day] as we see it," he told SuperSport. "If we need to defend, we'll defend. If we must attack, we'll do that.
"We will dig deep. We're going to go out there fighting, and really try to take it down to the wire.
"It is a beautiful batting wicket, the talk in the changing room is really positive, so it's going to be good."
