Capitals keep up form with Sabres shutout


Washington Capitals' goalie Braden Holtby continued his remarkable form to help his team to a ninth win in 10 games.

The Capitals beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-0, with Holtby making an incredible 31 saves to complete the shutout.

Goals from Alex Ovechkin and Jay Beagle in the second period sealed the win for the Capitals.

Meanwhile, the Montreal Canadiens snapped a six-game losing streak when Max Pacioretty and Brian Flynn scored in the shoot-out to help overcome the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3.

At the other end, goalie Mike Condon was in terrific form, making 39 saves.

The Nashville Predators defeated the New York Rangers 5-3 in a thrilling game, while the Minnesota Wild put in a strong performance to see off the Detroit Red Wings 3-1.

Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Kings hammered the Vancouver Canucks 5-0, with Tyler Toffoli scoring three goals, while the Colorado Avalanche bested the San Jose Sharks 6-3.
