The San Francisco 49ers have some injury problems at running back, so they brought back pre-season favourite Jarryd Hayne.
The former rugby league star made some big plays during the pre-season, but saw limited action during the regular season for San Francisco.
Hayne was eventually released by the team before being placed on the practice squad.
Now, with Carlos Hyde on injured reserve and Shaun Draughn inactive, the 49ers need Hayne.
In order to make room for Hayne, they placed offensive lineman Alex Boone on injured reserve with a torn MCL suffered in week 14.
Boone had been having a great season for San Francisco, and was named as a Pro Bowl alternate this season.
The 49ers' running back situation now consists of Kendall Gaskins, recently acquired DuJuan Harris and now Hayne.
San Francisco have had running back woes all year long.
The team placed Hyde, Reggie Bush and Mike Davis (short-term) on injured reserve this season.
They also signed Pierre Thomas, Travaris Cadet, Gaskins and Harris.
It is unclear which running back will start for San Francisco against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
