Jets hit six past Maple Leafs, Oilers surprise Bruins

The Winnipeg Jets scored six unanswered goals to thrash the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-1 in the NHL at MTS Centre on Wednesday.

Drew Stafford scored twice, as Mark Scheifele netted and provided two assists as the Jets scored four third-period goals to turn their impressive lead into a rout.

The Jets have won two of their past three outings, while the Maple Leafs have been beaten in four of their past five.

Jordan Eberle scored the only goal of the shoot-out to help the Edmonton Oilers down the Boston Bruins 3-2 at Rexall Place.

Matt Hendricks and Mark Letestu both netted and assisted to help the Oilers seal just their ninth win of the season.

The Bruins, who twice equalised through Torey Krug and Zdeno Chara, have seen their five-game winning run come to an end.

Kyle Okposo was the New York Islanders' hero in their 2-1 shoot-out win against the New York Rangers.

The leaders of the Metropolitan Division have now won only one of their past five games.

The Tampa Bay Lightning accounted for the Anaheim Ducks 2-1, with Jonathan Marchessault scoring the winner on the power-play late in the second period.
