Stander signs Munster extension

Munster back row CJ Stander has signed a two-year contract extension with the Pro12 club.

Stander, who joined Munster in October 2012, has scored 22 tries in 69 appearances for the Irish side.

The South African was named as the club's Player of the Year for last season, becoming the first overseas player to earn the honour.

He has filled in for the injured Peter O'Mahony as captain this term and will now remain with the team until at least June 2018.

Stander told Munster's official website: "I am delighted to be committing my future to Munster Rugby.

"This is very much home for me and it is a huge honour to represent the red jersey every week. I look forward to continuing my journey with the team and supporters."
