Shvedova's strong run ends in withdrawal

Yaroslava Shvedova's strong run of form ended in disappointment as she withdrew from her quarter-final contest against Kirsten Flipkens at the OEC Taipei WTA Challenger.

Second seed Shvedova - who won in Hua Hin last week - took the first set 6-4 in Friday's contest against the Belgian but pulled out when trailing 2-1 in the second.

Flipkens is now set to face fourth seed Timea Babos after the Hungarian was a 6-4 7-5 victor against Stefanie Vogele.

On the other side of the draw, top seed Misaki Doi continued to look strong in a 6-3 6-4 win against Luksika Kumkhum.

The Japanese has yet to drop a set this week, but faces a tricky semi-final tie against third seed Evgeniya Rodina who battled from a set down to defeat Liu Chang 4-6 6-2 6-4.
