Maccabi Tel Aviv have appointed Zan Tabak as their new head coach as they aim to recover from a dismal start to the Euroleague season.
A three-time Euroleague champion as a player with Jugoplastika Split, Tabak played his part in securing another title last season as an assistant at Real Madrid. He arrives from another Spanish club, Fuenlabrada.
The 45-year-old, who also won the NBA title with Houston Rockets in 1995, succeeds Guy Goodes after the latter was released by Maccabi a week ago.
Maccabi's record of 1-4 represents their worst start to a season this century.
However, Tabak is quoted as saying by Euroleague's official website: "This is a great opportunity for me, and I'm sure I can help this group succeed.
"As someone who has devoted his whole life to basketball, I know exactly what an empire Maccabi Tel Aviv is. It is one of the most elite clubs of all time.
"It is an honour for me to coach the team and give everything I've got to help Maccabi succeed at every level possible."
