Sam Burgess made the right decision by leaving Bath and returning to rugby league, according to Danny Cipriani.
Burgess is returning to NRL side South Sydney Rabbitohs after cutting short his stint in union with Bath and England, who he represented at Rugby World Cup 2015.
In a column for the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old admitted he was frustrated by the atmosphere in the international squad, and Sale Sharks fly-half Cipriani has supported his decision to return to Australia.
"He has made a decision which he feels is right for him," Cipriani told Sky Sports.
"Obviously people are going to say what they say about it but he gave it his all. He did everything he could.
"I think he just felt more at home in the league environment. You can't really hold a grudge on that and I think everyone wishes him well.
"It obviously would have been nice for him to stay and give it a crack, but at the end of the day sport is a short career and you have got to do it for yourself really."
