David Furnish calls husband Sir Elton the 'greatest gift' on singer's 70th

David Furnish has wished his husband Sir Elton John a happy 70th birthday, calling their relationship "the greatest gift of all".

The Rocket Man singer is celebrating his milestone birthday today and Furnish shared his heartfelt tribute on Instagram with a photo of them together.

He wrote: "Happy 70th Birthday Elton!! Husband. Partner. Soulmate. Friend.

"Sharing my life with you is the greatest gift of all.

Some of Sir Elton's showbusiness friends also offered their best wishes.

Barry Manilow posted a throwback photo of himself and Sir Elton in their younger days where the birthday boy was wearing a large headdress with the caption: "Happy Birthday to @eltonjohn #HappyBirthdayElton"

Chat show host Ellen DeGeneres tweeted: "Happy birthday, @Eltonofficial! I love a Saturday bday. Saturday night's the night I like. Saturday night's alright alright alright."

Sir Elton will mark his 70th and his 50-year writing partnership with Bernie Taupin at a star-studded charity gala hosted by Rob Lowe in Los Angeles.

The event will raise funds for the Elton John Aids Foundation and Los Angeles-based art and culture centre the Hammer Museum.
