Man arrested after police officer stabbed near east London pub

A man has been held on suspicion of attempting to murder a police officer in a knife attack.

The male officer was stabbed while on duty near a pub in Bow, east London, on Tuesday evening.

London Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service treated the injured officer who was taken to an east London hospital in a non-life-threatening condition.

A man was arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder the officer, who was in plain clothes when he was attacked near the Bows Bell Pub on Bow Road at 9.22pm.

Scotland Yard said the incident was not being treated as terrorism related at this stage and a knife was recovered.
