These competitors at the annual UK Rock Paper Scissors Championship are having a better Saturday night than you

Updated:

A good ol' game of rock paper scissors is the ultimate way to settle just about anything.

It all started in good spirits as competitors of the annual championship took to the arena in The Green Man pub in London - but as the night progressed the atmosphere became increasingly tense, with each progressing contestant believing they were in with a shot at winning.

Of course, a night of such frivolity wouldn't be complete without some ridiculous fancy dress costumes.

Sadly the positive superpowers of competitor Paul Knight's cape were nowhere to be seen as he was knocked out in the first round.

While rival Ed Latham seemed to be channelling the evil of his character a little better: "I came as Darth Vader because I want to instil fear in the opposition. The force is strong."

Top prize was £100, a trophy and a bottle of champagne, while those coming in second and third were also in line for some much needed alcoholic rewards.
