Yasmin Le Bon was in 'a dark place' while juggling career and motherhood

Model Yasmin Le Bon has revealed she suffered a breakdown while trying to juggle her career and motherhood.

Le Bon, 51, who has three daughters with Duran Duran star Simon Le Bon, admitted she would hide in the bathroom and cry from the strain.

In an interview with The Mail on Sunday's You magazine, she said she found herself in a "dark place" when the girls, who are now in their 20s, were teenagers.

She told the magazine: "'Nobody can tear your heart apart within a couple of words like [your children] can... I had been a punchbag for a long time and it was having an effect.

"That whole emotional drain pushed me over the edge... I was in a dark place."

Asked if she had been through a breakdown, Le Bon replied: "Yes, I have been at that level, absolutely."

She said "nothing terrible" triggered her dark mood, adding: "That is the misconception - that there must be a fault. But there is no major drama, it's just trying to live.

"We hold on to the weirdest things. There will be one little comment I made to somebody 25 years ago in a mindless moment that still hurts me. Those just build up and unwittingly start to change the shape of things.'

Le Bon revealed she was sleeping very badly and suffered crippling back pain, adding: "I needed to address things in my past I hadn't really dealt with."

She believes half of the pain she suffered when her daughters were teenagers was down to her emotions, saying: "'You are so linked to all their moods, all their anxieties... I had been a punchbag for a long time and it was having an effect.

"That whole emotional drain pushed me over the edge with my back. I couldn't cope with the pain; I was in a dark place - but, hey, that's what friends are for."
