A dangerous driver who called police asking them to stop chasing him has been jailed, after a car chase in West Sussex.
Bruce Dewey, 36, weaved in and out of traffic, dodged sticks deployed to burst his tyres and drove on the wrong side of the road in the fast paced pursuit.
Police officers knew Dewey did not have the correct licence so pursued him, but he was not stopping to chat. Instead he dialled 999 and asked them to stop following him over the phone.
Unfortunately for Dewey his words fell on deaf ears. He has now been jailed for 15 months for dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without third party insurance.
