A young girl has died after suffering a serious injury at her home, police have said.
Cleveland Police said they were not treating the incident in Thornaby, Teesside, at 3.30pm on Friday as suspicious.
The girl was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, by ambulance but died on arrival, a force spokeswoman said.
The force said: "The child's death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will now be prepared for the Coroner.
"Our thoughts are with all family, friends and neighbours at this very sad time."
The Great North Air Ambulance Service sent a helicopter to the scene but the girl was not flown to hospital.
