Trial to open of man accused of killing religious leader
A 21-year-old man is to go on trial accused of the murder of a Bangladeshi religious leader.
Jalal Uddin, 64, was found with head injuries in a children's play area in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, on February 18.
He was taken to hospital from the scene in South Street, Wardleworth, but died a short time later.
It is thought Mr Uddin had earlier visited a nearby mosque for evening prayers.
Mohammed Hussain Syeedy, of Ramsay Street, Rochdale, denies the murder of Mr Uddin.
He has also pleaded not guilty to conspiring with others between August 1 2015 and February 19 this year to murder Mr Uddin.
The trial takes place at Manchester Crown Court.
