Women killed and five people injured by knifeman in possible terrorist attack

A woman has died and up to five people have been injured in a possible terrorist knife attack in central London, police said.

A suspected knifeman was Tasered by police and arrested in the incident in Russell Square that began shortly before 10.30pm on Wednesday night.

The Metropolitan Police said up to six people were found injured and a woman was treated at the scene before being pronounced dead a short time later.

A police spokesman said: "Terrorism is one possibility being explored at this stage."
