Pair face murder quiz after death of three-month-old boy

A baby boy who was seriously injured in an incident has died, police said.

The three-month-old was admitted to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Saturday and later transferred to Bristol Children's Hospital.

The boy had been in a critical but stable condition but died on Sunday night.

Gloucestershire Police said a 20-year-old woman and 26-year-old man, who had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident in Archdeacon Street, Gloucester, had been rearrested on suspicion of murder.

A police spokeswoman said: "The baby has sadly died at Bristol Children's Hospital on Sunday evening.

"The man and woman arrested for attempted murder have now been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the case.

"They are still in custody."
