Police were called to a bar in Capitol Hill, Seattle after the man reportedly swung an improvised spear - which was a knife attached to a metal pole - at an employee.

The man fled the scene and was being chased by the officers when he threw a "batarang" at them.

According to the Seattle government website, the officers eventually managed to catch up with the 23-year-old suspect.

They also found he had thrown "a sharp, black Batman-style throwing star", which had become embedded in the front end of a patrol vehicle.
