A British couple were among people in Nice to narrowly avoid the devastating terror attack that killed 84 during Bastille Day celebrations on Thursday night.
Holidaymakers Jan Jeffreys and her partner Les Smith had just arrived in the French city that day and had decided not to go to the fireworks display on the Promenade des Anglais.
Had they attended, they said there would be "no doubt" that they would have been caught up at the scene when a lorry rampaged into the crowd.
The couple described the chaos with "people running everywhere" after they heard gunshots.
Meanwhile, mourners attended vigils at makeshift memorials after the attack, and landmarks around the world have been lit up in the colours of the French flag to show solidarity with the victims.
