Cities around the world are lighting up their landmarks in solidarity with France

The tragic events in Nice have left the world stunned. The current death toll stands at 84 and scores more are left with serious injuries.

In a show of solidarity with France, which has suffered multiple terror attacks in recent years, nations around the world are lighting up their iconic landmarks in the colours of the Tricolore.

Belfast displayed the red, white and blue flag on the City Hall.

As did London, on the London Eye.

American cities joined in the gesture of respect, including Tampa, Florida and Buffalo, New York.

Istanbul, though in the midst of a military coup, still displayed the French colours on the Bosporus Bridge.

Cities in the Middle East also displayed the French flag, including Abu Dhabi and Doha.

Of course, France's capital played a central role in the tributes to Nice, lighting up its most famous structure.
