People are making lots of jokes about David Cameron driving off into his new post-PM life

It's official: David Cameron is no longer our prime minister.

Cameron tendered his resignation to the Queen which "Her Majesty was graciously pleased to accept", Buckingham Palace announced.

As he drove off from 10 Downing Street on his way to see the Queen, people were reimagining what the ride might have been like.

They wished they could have been a fly on the wall.

And pondered over the efficiency of the day's proceedings.

Then they all made the same joke about David Cameron not forgetting to take any of his kids with him (ICYMI Cameron accidentally left his daughter Nancy in a pub back in 2012).

Next up on the agenda: Theresa May to return to Downing Street to take Cameron's place.
