Woman charged with attempted murder over baby found in A&E toilets

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after a baby was found abandoned in hospital toilets.

Orsolya Anmaria Balogh, 26, has been remanded to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police said.

Shortly after 12am on Wednesday July 6 police were called to the Royal Albert Infirmary in Wigan to reports that a newborn baby boy had been found in the toilets of A&E.

The baby was found by security staff at the hospital and taken into the A&E ward where he was resuscitated and is now doing well.

A 31-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has since been eliminated from enquiries.
