Man describes the moment a huge sinkhole appeared in Ottawa

A witness has described the large sinkhole which forced buildings in Ottawa to be evacuated.

The city of Ottawa said in a statement on Wednesday that the road collapse occurred at Rideau Street and Sussex Drive, which is close to Parliament.

A van fell into the sinkhole but there are no reports of injuries.

The Rideau Mall, the Westin Ottawa, the Shaw Centre Convention Centre and a book shop are among the buildings that were evacuated due to the smell of gas.
