Gary Barlow stunned Bank Holiday shoppers when he gave a surprise performance in Bristol - disguised as himself.

Shoppers assembled around a mystery man at a grand piano wearing a mask of the Take That frontman's face in the Cabot Circus shopping centre.

But just a few bars into the band's hit Could It Be Magic, he whipped off the mask to reveal his true identity to screams of delight and surprise from the crowd.

Hundreds soon surrounded the X Factor judge for his impromptu performance, with many fans sharing the joy on Twitter.

One wrote: "@GaryBarlow Can't believe we have just seen you in Cabot Circus!!!!! My whole family are huge fans and my mum and dad are so jealous."

Jo Meach added: "Loved seeing Gary..Great surprise at Cabot circus."

Barlow is known for making surprise appearances and "crashed" several weddings last year to act as an unannounced wedding singer.
