British urban comedy trio Joivan Wade, Percelle Ascott and Dee Kaate - better known as Mandem on the Wall - have launched a crowdfunding project for their first film, The Weekend.
The Weekend will be paid for by fans through IndieGoGo, a crowdfunding platform. So far it has raised £20,675 in just three days, 21% of the £100,000 target.
The Weekend is directed by Sheridan De Myers (Thinking Out Loud, Money and Grime), and follows the story of three best friends who dream of living the high life, but it looks like they're destined for the life of everyday Londoners - until they accidentally come across £100,000.
The trio splash the cash on haircuts, clothes and a big old party. It's the weekend to end all weekends. However, problems arise when the money's rightful owner resurfaces and the boys have 24 hours to pay everything back in full.
The film's director and cast members are set to tour schools and universities across the UK to inspire young people to dream big. They'll also share their insight into the acting industry and talk to students about how to get their foot in the door of the world of film and television.
The gang is embarking on a nationwide tour, which kicked off on Monday.
Percelle Ascott commented: "You're never too young to follow your dreams, and it's never too late either. When we first came up with ideas for sketches, we had no idea where it was going to take us. We had a vision and something just told us we had to follow our gut. We persevered and it's pretty amazing to look back and see what we've achieved."
The £100,000 raised will allow the team to release the film in 28 cinemas in 25 cities across the UK, going on tour costs, cinema rental and other film-related finances. Read more about The Weekend here.
