Murder probe after death of woman at house in Forest of Dean
A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in the Forest of Dean.
Police were called by the ambulance service to a house in The Slad, Popes Hill, Newnham, Gloucestershire last night.
The force said a 56-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries and an inquiry had been launched into the circumstances.
A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
"Police are making inquiries to determine whether the incident was an accident or suspicious and as part of the investigation have arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of murder," a force spokesman said.
"He currently remains in police custody.
The next of kin has been informed and the coroner has been notified. A home office post-mortem is now taking place to determine the cause of death."
